A deck built to last in the Scottish weather
A timber deck turns an awkward or sloping garden into usable outdoor space. But decking in central Scotland has to cope with plenty of rain, so what sits underneath matters as much as the boards on top. We design and build timber decks for gardens across Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Kinnaird and the Falkirk area.
What goes into our decks
- A solid, level frame – treated joists at the right spacing, on a firm base, set to the correct height and fall.
- Ventilation and drainage – so water can escape and the frame stays dry, which is what makes a deck last.
- Quality boards – pressure-treated softwood or hardwood, with grooved or anti-slip options.
- Steps, balustrades and handrails – in timber, or glass if you want to keep the view.
- Lighting – low-level deck and step lights can be planned in from the start.
Designed around your garden
We start with a site visit to look at levels, access, drainage and where the sun falls, then suggest a size and layout that works for how you want to use the space – dining, relaxing or simply getting a level area outside the back door.
Planning permission
Most low-level garden decks do not need planning permission, but raised decks can. We will flag it at the survey, and you can confirm with Falkirk Council if your deck is likely to need it.
Timber or composite?
Timber looks natural and costs less to install; it needs a clean and a treatment every year or two. If you would rather avoid the upkeep, have a look at composite decking. Many customers finish the garden with new timber fencing at the same time.
