Bring your original windows back to life
A full restoration takes a tired, draughty, sticking sash and case window and returns it to smooth, quiet, comfortable working order – while keeping the original timber, glass and character that make older homes special. We restore sash windows in properties across Larbert, Stenhousemuir and the wider Falkirk area.
What a full restoration includes
- Sashes removed and taken back to a sound surface where needed.
- Rotten timber cut out and new timber spliced in to the original profile.
- New sash cords fitted and weights balanced.
- Pulleys freed or replaced, and new parting and staff beads where required.
- Loose glass re-bedded and putty renewed.
- Brush and seal draught proofing routed in.
- New or restored ironmongery – sash fasteners, lifts and stops.
- The window re-hung and adjusted to run smoothly, ready for decoration.
Why restore rather than replace?
Restoration keeps the character of the house, retains original timber that is often better than modern equivalents, and usually costs less than a good-quality replacement. For listed buildings and properties in conservation areas, it is often the preferred option too.
How we work
We plan the work so each room is only open for as short a time as possible, and we protect floors and furnishings while we work. We will explain what each window needs before we start, so you know exactly what is being done.
For extra warmth and quiet after restoration, secondary glazing is a discreet addition. If your windows have internal shutters, we can bring those back into use as well – see shutter repairs.
